Hello, all.

I've been lurking for awhile and decided to finally come out of my shell and say, Hi.

It all started with my parents getting me the USPS Commemorative Yearsets for Christmas since I was born. I never had a lot of interest in collecting until just a few years ago. My father and grandfather both collected stamps, and I guess I ended up with the gene. My dad had to sell his collection many years ago, and my grandfather's was 'stolen' by a relative after my grandad's passing. I have only a few of his items, but it includes a list of all the stamps he had. I hope one day to replicate his collection so it can be passed on in the family.

I collect mostly US MNH. The largest part of my collection is 1930 and later. I've just recently begun acquiring used classics. I've also started to branch out to Pitcairn Islands, Ryukyu Islands and Israel, albeit only when great deals are to be had.

I'm glad I found these forums, as I've already learned much.

Take care all,

Bill

Welcome Bill,

I hope you enjoy it here. My only complaint is ---- lack of time!

Welcome Bill.

Like you and many others here, I dabbled with collecting as a child, then got serious about it as an adult.

Then I collected US singles in MNH, which were (with a few exceptions) fairly easy to acquire from 1930 forward. I decided to draw the line at 2000 because I was beginning to get interested in the pre-1940. And like you, I switched to collecting used and I've been trying to fill in the holes ever since.

Last year, I started a Canada collection with the same strategy of mint modern and used classics.

Anyhoo... you're not alone and you'll find plenty of friendly folks here who want to learn about your collections and can be a great asset when you have questions.

Welcome,
KirkS
