Stampie:

While you're waiting for an answer, allow me to say Welcome.

I hope you'll post more information about yourself and your collection. You've already mastered the posting of images -- that took most of us a while to learn .

Your question is outside my area of expertise, as are most of the questions here, but I'm sure someone will have an answer for you soon. You'll find lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks on SCF.

It is a revenue stamp so may be difficult to find in a standard catalogue.

Welcome stampie! Hope you enjoy this site.

Quote from Evert Klaseboer's site:
"Queen Victoria, inscription 'THE STAMP ACT 1864', I've seen the values: 1 p green on yellow, 3 p orange on yellow, 6 p brown on yellow, 1 Sh lilac, 2 Sh red and 50 Pounds violet. Many more values exist."
http://catalogue.klaseboer.com/vol1...s_afrca2.htm

for what it's worth, it doesn't seem to be worth much - a used 6d was sold with a used 4 shilling stamp earlier this year for R41 (ie about £4 GBP, $6 US):

By the way, the best place to put this type of query is in the general forum - especially effective if you have a very clear title eg "help with Cape of Good Hope 1864 Stamp Act 6d" - as lots of people check the forum every day.
