Quote: it is spot less It is also gum less. "No gum" hides a multitude of sins... Does it really catalogue $700 with that centering? [edit...not saying it doesn't...I didn't look it up, because I figure you did.] |

I just went back and looked at the images he sent me.. why do people say they scanned something at hi-res when it obviously isn't? he said the image is 600dpi. It is not. it is a 100dpi image resized to 600 by 800. which makes detail impossible because it is so pix-lated. I guess they think people are stupid. |

cjd.. if it is in VF condition unused no gum, then yes that is catalog.
that stamp is a VG condition.. that drops it down to 175.00. |

billw2.. the first seller I wouldn't buy from. Too often his lot description are inflated. he says the stamp has perfect centering, it does not. the second one.. look at the terms.. he only accepts stuff back after certification if HE agrees with it. I have looked a both sellers extensively over the past few months.. I haven't been impressed. to be honest, I haven't been real impressed with any seller on ebay or bidstart.. descriptions are always overblown. whatever happened to truth in advertising? |

I can understand the second seller's terms, though. They could consign inaccurate collections without knowing it and trying to claw the money back is impossible. Of course, it is restrictive and doesn't sound good.
Though it significantly limits my purchase opportunities, I avoid sellers (and buyers) on many internet auction sites. Mostly because what you are bidding for is a picture. There is no guarantee that what the seller sends you is actually what's in the scan.
Of course, this limits me to buying at local shows and public auctions. At least then, I get to examine the *actual* item, even if it costs me more at the end of the day.

I didn't look at either stamp terribly closely, but a used copy cats for about $200 if I recall, for what a nasty NG one costs you can buy a really nice used one. FWIW, I rarely buy philatelic stuff of any value on ebay. |

If you spend over $40.00 US on a Stamp on ebay it better be accompanied by a certificate. Too many scammers on ebay, people get slabbed Prexies certified but don't do it on 1800's banknotes and classics ? |

Easy with the certs... it had better be accompanied by a RECENT cert! There's been some very heated discussions of late elsewhere about how older certs missed flaws. IMO a valuable stamp with a 20 year old cert might as well have no cert. |
