With the holidays upon us all of a sudden seemingly there is a question that some of us may be asking. How to decorate the traditional (or not) Christmas tree?

This could extend to the fireplace mantle (does anyone still have one of these great things?) or just all around the house and home.

Stamps!

Stamps stuck on ornaments.

Stamps made into ornaments!

Stamps in plastic holders hung on the tree with care.

Stamps in little cellophane bags with string attached (or not).
Link to a seller on ebay that sells little clear plastic bags:
http://myworld.ebay.com/uniquepacking/
(I have some (about 1 inch x 2 inches 2 x 3) if anyone wants any to try for free, postage paid from cheery Nova Scotia).

Stamps making up little villages and dioramas and creches.

What a great use for all those Christmas stamps that everyone has too many of!

Or any stamps with appropriate themes or pictures or colours.

Perhaps a little sparkle here and there added or even little LED lights that do not heat up but shine out brightly.

Stamps inside those little houses, people at the windows, sleighs and reindeer and horses and snow and dogs and trees, wonderful trees.

All those tree stamps no one knows what to do with.

It's a whole new cottage industry!

Ideas anyone? Pictures? Stamps?

Puzzler, Puzzler, Puzzler. What are we going to do with you? You've got some wonderful ideas there and I have one to add to the mix here.

I'm going to make little picture frames out of cardboard, cut out with a decorative edging. Then I will embellish the frame with either glitter or tiny bows and place a piece of green or red construction paper on the solid back as a backing for contrast. Colored tissue paper might work just the same. Then I will place the Christmas stamp between the frame and seal it with just a small piece of tape or a smidgen of glue. Then some gold thread on the top of the frame to hang on the tree.

Anyone else have any ideas on how to incorporate your collections with the holidays? This will be a great thread!

Donna, thanks. I got lost after you mentioned little bows and glitter ! Not much of one for all that fancy finger work.

But I like trees and buildings and animals. Oh, and everything, I just like everything.

Two years ago all our Christmas cards were handmade with previous years Christmas stamps. Plain white card, a square of coloured card or paper as a background "frame", with the stamp centred on the top, and there you have it. I made about 60. Obviously had more time on my hands back then...

Puzzler, I'm a smart crafter. I can buy packages of little tiny bows and I mean tiny little bows. There's no way I'm sitting there and tying those bad boys!

Great ideas all. I envy Puzzler...all this time for thinking !

Now we have more things to think about.

For me, the card idea is excellent. Christmas is not celebrated here and cards are hard to come by. So I have plenty of coloured card and spare stamps. I can even put a Christmas stamp from the same country as I'm posting it to !

Then I'll hire Donna to make some Christmas decorations for me.
Then I'll twaddle off to Bethlehem on December 24th and tell everyone about it !

Londonbus1...should be a good Christmas after all.

I think they are actually earrings, Lb,

so I'll hang them on the tree .

Gee I like that Wales dragon Puzz, what does "AF" indicate ?
