I just need to clarify something here. An imperforate is a stamp that has no perforations, right?

Right.

An Imperf stamp is Imperforate all round.

Then you can have Imperf left, Imperf right, Imperf on two sides,three sides etc.

. . . and it usually means that it was printed that way, or printed all on one sheet with no separations between the stamps made at the time of printing, but afterwards by the Postmaster when he cut the stamps out from the sheet by hand.

Sometimes you can get stamps that have been cut off their paper envelopes / wrappings too closely (cutting into the stamp itself) and these are known at close-cut. They are Now imperforate but not from the original printing method.

Watch for stamps that people intentionally cut the perfs off of to create a coil stamp and thus increase it's value. It did not come that way from the printers.
