In addition to price, I think there are several other reasons people like stamps with Zeppelin's on them, regardless of the country of issue. One is the tragedy at Lakehurst NJ. Another is that travel by Zeppelin was like early travel by ships like the titanic and the Queen Elizabeth - it was elegant. Finally, a lot of these issues were produced between WWI and WWII. In general, stamps from that era are beautifully produced. |

Bobgggg the fakir tries to palm off Guatemala airmails as zeps...Sfgoda the Central American countries issued beautiful stamps..they used printers like Waterlow and Sons...you can build an excellent collection of say Costa Rica or Guatemala for a few hundred dollars..90 percent of their stamps are inexpensive..Also Costa Rica and Guatemala are VERY CONSERVATIVE stamp issuing countries to their credit...they issue only a few stamps a year and some years they will skip and issue none at all ! |

I purchased the Baby Zepp at my stamp club's silent auction for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, I can not seem to come up with the green for the set of 3 or even a single one for probaly another 20 years, when my son is out of college! LOL |

Stamperdude dont feel like Tonto !! I have sprung for a couple of $100 items..because they were important to me..not for the sake of spending...if you can by whatever means necessary..get a copy of the May 2008 Scotts Stamp monthly...its dedicated to Lincoln..pages of stamps and covers of him...you should be able to find a copy somewhere ! |
