Scott Catalog has a variation for C81 states missing FO?

what is an FO... (my mind is locked on First Officer)

It means it was a result of a paper fold-over during the printing process. Therefore the color missing error does not affect the entire sheet, but only selected stamps that did not get the ink because of the fold-over.

Fold-Over, I've hear mention of it before but didn't connect the abbreviation FO. and probably never would have thanks!

Actually, I never noticed it until you posted this question. I don't recall ever having seen that used as an abbreviation.

Scott doesn't always notate that a color missing error due to a fold-over.

I didn't check my Datz catalog to verify, this is taken from memory. I'm not sure where my Datz catalog is at this point. But I'm pretty sure that the FO stands for fold-over.

OK, I looked it up. Yes, FO is the abbreviation Scott uses for "fold-over".
