KGV Collector, I'm glad you've found the thread useful. It's obviously more relevant to Australians than Americans, but since many of us sell stamps on ebay (and other sites) these are issues we need to think about in order to avoid being run over by the Paypal juggernaut.

BTW post office employees are not allowed to sign - or even initial - the photocopy. I asked for this and the worker involved explained that to me. I think the cancellation on the envelope is therefore the best that can be hoped for.

Of course this thread is not just relevant to Australians. Here's a Canadian seller with similar concerns:

Our local PO is a true PO and not an agency but it is privately owned which to my understanding is rare.
Thanks I will inform them about the signature issue. My PO people are really worth looking after that is for sure.
Thanks to all again. Happy stamping. KGV

Since paypal is the only payment for ebay, they have the sellers cornered. They are concerned about making the buyer feel secure. There is a lot of discussion about unethical sellers but unethical buyers have them vastly outnumbered. In the U.S. delivery conformation is reasonable but only for U.S. delivery. Buyers often wonder why some sellers have high shipping charges but once you pay ebay, paypal and post office, buy packaging materials and pay for loss in mail and unethical buyers there is not much left on low cost lots. Greed by ebay/paypal is wrong but somewhat understandable but some of these buyers that sale their ethics for $5-$10 is very difficult to understand.

I have been reading this part of the forum for some months now. I read till my eyes water. They do not like the light of the screen so I am still wading through it all.
But one thing is for sure if you persist in reading everything on this part of the forum you turn into one very well informed person about on-line selling and buying through many different outlets.
The people of our SCF have made sure that a new comer in this area can be well informed indeed. Thanks SCF! It is a huge help! KGV

Actually you can pay on ebay with Moneybookers, but ebay conceals this. There is supposed to be a button somewhere that says 'Pay with Moneybookers' but I can't find it and haven't yet been able to add it to my listings.

No, I couldn't care less who pays it, what I'm suggesting is that you either follow the rules or don't whine. You willingly didn't follow the required guidelines, now you're mad at Paypal when it's entirely your own fault. Paypal is not to blame one iota. Doesn't make any sense now does it?

How much do they pay you for this? Every time someone has a go at ebay or Paypal you are here with your bayonet and shield.
You have made contributions on about 7 other threads....and all in the defence of ebay and Paypal with not a nice word for anyone here.
Well done !

Add something constructive please or don't add at all.
Do you collect stamps by the way ?

Londonbus1....I thought not.

I wouldn't put too much merit into the Daily Mail article. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the British equivalent of the New York Post - a rag sheet of questionable journalism and loose ethics.

Glad to hear the post office was able to work out a solution with you Jim. I can understand why they aren't allowed to sign the photocopy, but can they postmark it?

As for payments, I think you have to add Moneybookers to your ebay choices through the Moneybookers website. Not completely sure. If you advertise your auctions through a secondary source you can advertise any other methods of payment. You can also mention it on the invoices after an item finishes.
