I hesitated in answering as I suspect SV already knows my preference in these matters. Better to spend $170 on a couple Fine+ condition stamps than on a bunch of faulty/poorly centered ones.

Personally I don't think it's a bad deal, it's less than $20.00 per stamp. The 10¢ Washington on the end of row 1 is as nicely centered as you'll find for that particular stamp. Questions, what is the first Franklin Stamp in Row 1 ? Is the 12¢ Washington middle of row 1 imperforated or scissor cut ? Any grills ? Any thins ? other than that it's a pretty nice group IMHO. And yes there are some missing perfs. on some, but for those particular Stamps if you want perfect perforations 1 stamp will run you $170.00.

they are supposed to be numbers 9/76

so
row 1
9- 10 or 11 - 17 - 20/24 probably 24 ( I haven't tried to ID it yet) - 14 or 15
row 2
63 - 70(a,b,c or d) - 73 and 76

The 10cent is pretty nice (pulled perf top left). The scan resolution is too low to see much but 1 cent perf looks Type V imperf looks Type II. Not a premium quality selection but priced appropriately

I'd personally spend the $170 on one or two nice stamps myself. However that 24c isn't a 70.. it's some type of 78 but I can't tell from here too specifically. A quick glance shows ragged perf holes, that's a 78

Scott catalogue states -
'Stamps are valued in the grade of very fine unless otherwise indicated.'

Is this the case for these items?
It appears to be common practise for dealers/traders to list the highest cat. value even if it is not relevant which is basically fraud but due to the subjective nature of grading seems to be accepted.

Buying stamps for that price would have to be as an investment for me or offer a very large amount of enjoyment.

I cannot say whether they are worth it as an investment and only you can say if you would gain massive enjoyment from them.
To me though some of them can only be classed as spacefillers due to various faults which could be why they are offered as a single lot.

I think it's worth further examination. The first, third, and fourth stamps on the top row have plate varieties that are worth money. Most people who sell these stamps do not take the time to examine them in this regard.

I purchased a sheet of stamps from an old German album from someone on ebay for $350. When I looked at a scan of the sheet I thought that the 1c Franklin could be #7 Ty. II. So, I went for it.

After I received the sheet of stamps and examined further, it was not only a #7 Ty. II, but also was plate position 10R1E which catalogs for $2,000.

Stampvirgin,

I'm basing my opinion on the quality & amount of stamps you manage to find and show every month. I would say NO, this is strictly factored off the pant wetting stamps you show off every month and looking at these they are nice but I can still go out in public in these pants.

(its all in humor) but you get the meaning
