Decided to sign up for some APS circuits to see what it was like first-hand. The first ones just arrived and I was wondering if the forum members had any suggestions, warnings, advice etc. for these books. Do you recommend or use them?

Hi Scouter, our stamp club gets a monthly circuit box that averages 17 diverse books...i am the Chapter APS Rep...the members tell me which countries they want to receive books from and I pass it on to APS..the good news is that I get first pick as the box is delivered to my house..bad news I am liable for 4 thousand dollars worth of stamps...i collect the sales money and mark the books and send them back to APS..sometimes I pull my hair out and have to ask my wife for help with the math...i would say give the books a chance..some months the circuit books will be better than others !!

Scouter:

When I receive a circuit, before removing any stamps, I look over them with my album/want list at my side. Sometimes there will be more than one book containing a stamp I want to purchase -- if so, I can compare quality and price.

Some books contain nothing of interest to me, so I place that book back in the box and out of my work area.

When I'm ready to begin removing stamps from the APS books, I grab a pad of Post-It notes. When I purchase a stamp, I remove it from the book and use my rubber stamp to mark it (all according to APS instructions).

But I also place a post-it note on the cover of the book; I make tick-marks to count the number of stamps I've removed from that book and also write the prices on the post-it.

For me, using a post-it as a "summary sheet" for each book is much easier than thumbing through page by page, counting and adding a running total.

I use my post-it notes to complete my sales record and mail in my check.

I guess there's no absolute right or wrong way, just whatever works best for you.

Kirk

The circuit books are what attract me to the APS. What range of values of stamps do you find in the circuit books? What percentage of catalog do you expect to pay for resonable quality stamps? How often do you get circuit books? Look at me, full of questions. :o)

I find this the best reconciliation coupon,
the number of stamps you take should match the entries.

If so you can hardly go wrong.

Now if you think it is a no brainer, circuit
sheet books are so easy to mess up, I see it nearly
every stamp meeting

Use a new coupon for every book.
