This one looks a bit unique to me given the rather unusual font quite noticable in the center line of the characters "A" and "E" having an upward swing. I have been unable to type it because of that unique characteristic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

(I realize the period after "Wis" looks like a comma, but I believe that to be an ink smudge rather than a typo.)

I ran across a reference to " Delavan 217 Wis, " but not being a student of precancels, I don't know if that would tip you off at all.

Thanks. Maybe it is a Type 217 with a font unique to Delavan, Wis.? I do have the TnT album page for that location and it shows a space for a "Delavan 217 Wis." example, but I didn't know if what I had was that variety or not.

You're beyond the bounds of my help. I just surmised that the comma after the Wis in the listing probably referenced your variety.

It is a type 217. If you look at the 217 in a PSS catalogue you will see a Baltimore, MD. The 'E' at the end of of Baltimore is the same type with the upward swing.

I don't have a PSS catalogue so I was unable to see the example you refer to. I downloaded the PSS styles sheets from the web and interestingly, the Type 217 "Baltimore" in that example does not show the upward swing in the "E".

Thanks again for the help.

Wt1 I still see the center line of the 'E' having an upward swing in the 98 edition.

I guess I'm using a really old example, as I still don't see it in this (unless it's my eyes):

The "A" in Baltimore seems to match, and there is definitely something going on with the middle bar of that E.

From the P.S.S. Chart Album (2007 Edition). Note that the middle stroke on the E curves up.
