Some more ID help needed on precancels:

I'm pretty sure the Lima, Ohio is a Type 729, but I can only assume that the Carrollton, Ohio one must be an "L"-type but not sure of the exact identification, as that city had a number of "L" precancels:

Anyone care to help me identify the type?

Thanks.

You're correct on the Lima. Carrollton has 6 "L" types. Yours is L-6 TS valued at 15 cents.

Thanks for the help. As I've said before, I always struggle with the "L" types. Nevertheless, it's in the proper album space now, so I won't have any trouble with any others I encounter.

I suspect your Lima is a PSS-261, not 729. The 261 is a clearer impression, slightly different font, and the lines are narrower.
Also, After my ambum pages were printed up, they changed the 262 to 261.

Thanks for the info. Comparing the two types (729 and 261) side-by-side and I'm hard pressed to see the difference. I guess that's what makes precancels such of a challenge.

Chas' scan isn't all that large, but it looks like type 729 has almost exactly 5 perf teeth from line to line, whereas type 261 has 4 1/2 teeth from top to bottom line. With that, I'd agree that your example is a type 261, as it also has about 4 1/2 teeth from line to line.
