Last week, I went for a short trip, a very short trip indeed, I sailed over the handlebars on my pushbike. I have a new respect for my bike, gloves are no longer for "wimps" and I am looking for elbow guards. The scabs on my cheek, my palms, my right elbow, both knees, besides losing some bark off my rump they are all healing well and at the "itchy" stage. Pride will take somewhat longer to restore. Cyclists beware!

You are safer sitting at your desk working on your stamps. To paraphrase Nero Wolfe (ex rex Stout) 99 percent of the time the place you go to is no better than the place you left. |

I agree rohumpy, but a brisk walk, or a 10Km ride invigorates and sets you up for a good session of stamps.
I am just glad I didn't dent the grille, a face like mine needs improvement but not from road gravel.

I cycle a short distance everyday and also fell off due to some 'black' ice last week. No other damage than my pride thankfully so I hope you recover from the ordeal. |

Nasty Road Rash! Sorry to Hear about it. Cyclists are a tough bunch in general but my bike is hanging from the garage ceiling for the winter. Ice and snow and bike tires don't mix. Though... I was looking out the window about a half hour ago with my first cup of morning coffee (6:45). It's -23 Celsius. It's been snowing on and off all night. It's still pitch dark and there is my neighbour pedalling off up the hill to the University - boots, parka, toque, mitts - the Michellin Man on wheels! Dedication that I lack. |

My brother-in-law heard that 80% of all traffic accidents happen within 2 miles of home. So he moved.
Glad you're OK, Rod! KirkS |

Quote: The cancelation could be from tire skid marks. A Roller Cancel ! Unique! Rare! Special! Only one known! Hope you are OK Rod. I once was riding along on my bicycle with my jacket on the handlebars. The jacket caught in the front wheel, jammed it up solid, and up and over I went, luckily landing on my soft spot (my head), all in the middle of a rotary (roundabout). Luckily there was a lull in the traffic and I limped to the sidelines to take a breather. |

Apart from the unfortunate incident encountered by Rod, it sounds like a Bicycling topical theme is brewing here...so let me start off with this one: |

You guys absolutely crack me up! Thanks for the well wishes. The guy I cycle with, knocked on the door the following Wednesday "Why didn't you turn up Sunday/" Me: covered in bandages: " I went over the handlebars sat night on the Belligen road" "That's OK, I have another bike, you could have borrowed that" (he meant it) No sympathy in the country..... |

I have gone over the handle bars also. Pedalling to the Post Office, a dog ran in front of me, I hit it and did a flip over the handlebars. The people sitting on the porch watching me were somewhat less than sympathetic and had a good chuckle. |

Quote: Autralian = Pushbike = bicycle Rod, I kind of imagined you on a bike without pedals, and someone behind you pushing it. Kind of like the opposite to a Rickshaw |
