Has anyone here ever seen a perfin from a University?

I was going through some covers (Looking for January Postmarks to post in a different thread)when I noticed the Perfed (lingo?) stamp and I was looking to see what the letters were. The perfin letters are UOFM which would match the Senders University of Minnesota Logo. I went back through that stack and found one more.

Here's one of the letters

Does anyone know if most University's have their own perfin?

Lucky

Lingo is "Perfinned" Lucky.
Not aware of any other university,
Lots of odd institutions use them, not just for
audit purposes either.
Our stamp club has one.

Hi

I do not have a listing per se for the US perfins but I do know that there are a number of universities in the United States that did use perfins on their mail.

Hmmm... Well it sound's like this is kind of a common thing which means that I'm going to spend a couple hours tonight and several hours tomorrow going though some covers and keeping an eye out for some more. It would be neat to have one from each of the U.S. States (if that's even possible).

I love a new topic to hunt through my covers hoping to find because that is usually when I notice something different on another cover which sidetracks me to that topic etc., etc., etc. which will help me to stay off my feet for hours without going nutty.

This link goes to a pdf-format checklist of perfins for US colleges and universities that may be helpful to you:

Maybe start small and see if you can knock off the Big Ten?
