I looked up Telegrafos and there was some discussion about them being pension stamps for telegraph or telephone workers, but I think I usderstood one person to say that they were used to pay tax on telegraph messages. So I am not sure, but I could use some help identifying this stamp from the Azores. Any catalog or near value help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance - Jeff

Hi Jeff.
In 1915 a 1 centavo was issued for regular use as Postal Tax which was overprinted to 15 centavos in 1924.
A 2 centavos was issued for use on telegraphs.
Para os Pobres = For the Poor. I have never seen any annotation tying it to a specific group or groups (like tele operators).

Hope this helps.
