Very common stamp - is it a very common cover. Do we really have any Lone Ranger topical collectors. I suppose it could go into TV topical. Thought I would share. - Jeff

I remember learning that the music used for The Lone Ranger theme was taken from the William Tell Overture by Rossini. Mt first introduction to classical music.

Quite the musical piece.I actually listened to a thirty piece choir voice the music for that, it was quite funny and quite well done! It was obvious they had spent alot of time practicing, but they had a ball doing it.

Here's a fun Kiwi version of the finale of Rossini's overture:

That was delightful! Thanks 22crows,
I've passed that on to friends.
----------------------------------------------

What always inspired me as a kid,
was "The Lone Ranger Creed"

"I believe that to have a friend,
a man must be one.

That all men are created equal
and that everyone has within himself
the power to make this a better world.

That God put the firewood there
but that every man
must gather and light it himself.

In being prepared
physically, mentally, and morally
to fight when necessary
for that which is right.

That a man should make the most
of what equipment he has.

That 'This government,
of the people, by the people
and for the people'
shall live always.

That men should live by
the rule of what is best
for the greatest number.

That sooner or later...
somewhere...somehow...
we must settle with the world
and make payment for what we have taken.

That all things change but truth,
and that truth alone, lives on forever.

In my Creator, my country, my fellow man."

The Lone Ranger

I saw a lot of Lone Ranger but don't remember that, but the creed is woefully needed.

Another milestone: Fred Foy, who did the amazing introduction to the Lone Ranger program on both radio and tv, died just this past December. I won't recite the intro because its on the web.

Jeff, thanks for sharing the cover.
22crows, thanks that was charming.
Rod, in the U.S. the Lone Ranger was a social icon, I am glad to see that it achieved international success. Television of the 50's and 60's taught social values. We often speak of social decay in the U.S. (and areas abroad I'm sure) but we can look and our choice of entertainment. In the 50's and 60's we had the Lone Ranger, the Wonderful World of Disney and Davey Crockett now we have Jersey Shores and "Reality TV". But at least here I get to cruise down memory lane.
Edit; As a teenager I was appalled by my father's attitude and now I have become him
