Some of the accumaltion that I have been sorting. I am amazed at the number of colour variations for the one issue.

The early 20th century U.S. produced a huge variety of color/shade, perf, print method and watermark. Some ofthe most valuable U.S. stamps come from this time period. The rarest non-error U.S. stamp is actually from 1914 (Scott 423E) with only 1 known copy.

Greetings Horamkhet,

Quite a lot of variety for these US Definitives. Scott lists over 25 different of just the 2C Washington design. While some are obvious (overprints, etc) others are less so. I would advise picking up a Scott catalog if you can - they are usually very cheap if you can find a used copy from the previous year. Of course there are many excellent references online. Here is one of my favorites that should help you in your sorting: http://www.1847usa.com/1922identifier.htm .
