hello, my name is leah I'm joining your community with 20 years of on and off stamp collecting through my childhood years. I recently found my collection and am looking for some help. I live I. Orlando florida now and it seems that there are no stores here that sell supplies or stamps. Are there any other collectors in my area who may know of local shops???
Thank you for any help
Leah

Hi Leah, I googled Orlando stamp clubs...there is a stamp show in Orlando in April where you can make contacts with dealers..i would type the location out for you but its easier if you google...brick and mortar stamp stores are very rare..even in a large city like Orlando...most dealers do the stamp show circuit or do business on the internet..its tough to get going in stamps again unless you read a stamp publication like Linns...of course you can learn quite a bit right here...you can buy supplies on ebay...under stamps look for publications and supplies !!

Leah, welcome to this website. I'm sure you will pick up plenty of info and knowledge from the many knowledgeable stamp collectors who contribute to this site on a regular basis. I have had many of my questions answered in my first 9 days on this site. Although I am not able to help you with local stamp outlets,I too would suggest that you join your local stamp club and find out where the members purchase stamps and supplies in the area. I find purchasing stamps/supplies over the internet very worthwhile and easy. You may want to take a look at the auctions on ebay. Regards Mike

Take a look at the American Philatelic Society (APS) webpage, follow the link at the upper right of our page. They have listings of dealers, stamp clubs, & big shows.

Hi Leah / ldummich, welcome!

We just had the last local stamp store shut there doors here so I am feeling the hurt also.

The stamp club(s) will attract dealers to their shows and if you can find the stamp club's web sites in your area there may be dealers advertising on the newsletters or web sites and they may be someone you could call or meet. That is, they may be happy to sell to someone who is willing to come by their home or business and look at supplies and stamps.

If they are any kind of salespeople they will be happy to help you.

What exactly do you collect? Worldwide? Certain countries? Certain topics or themes? Covers? Cancels? Anything that looks nice that day? (that's me)

Don't be afraid to ask. If you don't ask you won't find out. Lots of help here just waiting for people to ask something they know about so they can show them the way, so to speak.

Hi and thanks,
Yeah I'm originally from Illinois and we had lots of stores so it was a shock to find none here : (. I collect Disney stamps from around the world and my advisor from my mail order company suggested since my collection is almost complete I start other collections so that's where I'm at now pretty much what ever looks nice that day as you said, great sales person : ).

I have my grandpas collection and that is just too over whelming for me so I wanted to start my own odd one. But I'm a person who likes to sit and look and play and NOT wait haha.

I have found a club..didn't know they existed but I thank you and everyone else who has suggested that as a option.

Welcome idummich

I fully understand your dilema. When I started collectting again I had to buy everything on live. I have since found a couple of shops that carry a few things.

Good luck in your search and have fun with your collection.

Dianne

Leah,
I have a Disney stamp want for my route 66 collection. I am interested in any worldwide stamp that depicts characters from the Disney Pixar film CARS. Do you have any in your collection and if so could you post a picture of them?
