There's probably a simple answer to this that I'm just not seeing, so I thought I'd ask SCF members to comment. Here are four (4) varieties of the 1 cent Prexie (last one being a coil stamp).

As best as I can tell, the first one is a Type 71; the middle two are Type 61's; but the last one is what has me puzzled, as the bars are fractionally shorter than the Type 61's and the font appears a bit wider. So my question is: What precancel type is the coil stamp?

The last is 839-61. I have noticed that the type 61 on coils is sometimes slightly narrower but I don't know why.

The first three are 804-71, 804-61, 804-61 followed by 839-61 (as mentioned above).

Thanks for the info. That 839-61 still has me wondering why it shows wider spacing between certain letters in the typeface especially evident in the "LO" in "LOUIS". Also, is there any explanation as to why the bars are a bit shorter on the coil variety than on the regular issue?
