Anyone pickup the new Ronald Reagan Centennial stamp today (02/10/2011) as it is the first day of release? Here's a sample of the top three stamps with the selvage title and the text on the reverse side of the pane: I find it interesting that in this issue (maybe because of the top selvage or the orientation of the stamps?) that there are only TWO plate numbers in each of the bottom corners only (none on the top).

Just sent one to former member David Giles in Ottawa. I have remained in touch with him and we have traded US for Canada (current) several times. I miss his input here on SCF.
My local PO, being so small only ordered one of the sheets. I had already reserved it, and asked that a second be ordered for myself.
The postal worker and I have a close working relationship. She even lets me hand cancel material I mail out to a fellow stamper. |

If this is another FOREVER stamp does that mean it will be around in print for a long time? |

You raise an interesting question. I have not seen the USPS fully explain the concept of "FOREVER" stamps in terms of whether that means unlimited reprints of previously issued stamps, but it does open that possibility, especially if the USPS is on a cost-saving mission, the reprinting of existing "FOREVER" stamps must certainly be less expensive than retooling all of their equipment for every new issue. |

okay, you two need different avatars... having you post one after the other is confusing.. I thought it was the same person until I looked at the names.
Don't do that anymore, I'm confused enough already. |

Just to complete the thread, here's a local "First Day of Release" cancel: I'm sending for the official FDOI cancels, but seeing as I haven't received them back for my covers for the Lunar New Year or the Kansas Statehood, I guess it takes awhile. |

Just received in today's mail (02/22/2011). I haven't serviced my own FDC's for years, but this one was interesting to me because of the special cancel from Dixon, IL (Reagan's birthplace): |

stampvirgin,
Checkout the new avatar. At your request, actually I've been meaning to change it.
And on Sunday I bought some of the new Reagan stamps in a mall by me that has a post office open on a Sunday. |
