People have been asking about precancels lately and I admit that it is not an area that I have studied. Can someone tell me something about this Kansas City, MO precancel on a Scott 547?

The Kansas City MO on Scott 547 is probably the commonest city found on that denomination. According to the Hoover 'black book' catalog it comes from 27 towns with 37 distinct precancel types - with 51 different varieties listed if you include doubles, inverts etc. By comparison the 'orange' Scott 523 is listed from only 3 cities and 4 types. [getting the counts is easy if you have the PSS checklist CD for Classics]. Here is a 547 not listed in Hoover or PSS - some kind of collector made fantasy most likely.
