@timbres I actually plan on going to look at scanners today. Lol
@Bee See nooooooooo I abase myself at your feet.

There is the one particular board that really stood out and it was the admin's posts that really were abusive.

Welcome.
SCF is a family community.
Don't know the other board you speak of. I am a member of another board VSC, but that is a totally different type of venue.
But this is where the home is.

Another great thread !
Thanks Kegsgym.

I managed to pick myself up from the floor to post. My wife thought I was going senile.

I was a very active member at the other board. I even became a Mod.

I no longer participate, and haven't done so for over 12 months.

Time is so precious that, when you do have time for your hobby, you need to use it wisely. Getting abused is not "wisely". Since I came to SCF and another forum mentioned here recently (plug for the GOMC), I've found a stamp-club mentality rather than a sales forum.

No going back now!

Just curious, this less than desireable forum that is being spoke of, does it have a name ?

I am sorry to hear of everyone's poor experiences on that other stamp board, but I am relieved to hear I'm not the only one who felt mistreated. I responded snarkily to some abuse heaped upon me by the admin and drew a warning. I was trying to keep it light and got this, "And posts like this will see you be a VERY short term member. Got it?" Nice.

I think I'm going to go delete all the photobucket images I have showing on that site and see if I can't draw another warning

Welcome aboard, kegsgym! Much nicer here, and the fontsize is a heck of a lot smaller and readable too!

I shall choose my words carefully, so please, before jumping down my throat, read my words carefully.

I also belong to that other board. I have more posts there than here. At the moment, I have no plans to quit either.

First, the owner of the other board can certainly be overbearing and rude. I've been on the receiving end, too, and was deeply offended.

However, horses for courses: the other board appears to have a rather higher concentration of rather more serious collectors, and a greater proportion of more serious threads. This one is more suited to the less advanced collector, of areas outside North America, anyway.

This board isn't without its blemishes. My biggest irritation is non-specific thread headings. It really is quite annoying to have no idea what a thread is actually about, until I go to it, and look. Another irritation: tiny images. I know there's a size limitation on the images posted here, but a free (for example) Photobucket account is a very simple way around it, and allows images that are actually of usable size.

Oh, and I've had a thread I started here wiped, without a word of explanation, pleasant or abusive.

There is a very pleasant atmosphere here, not doubt about it. But if anyone could be bothered to read through the 3778 posts in the thread I started on the Indian States on the other board, I think you'd find an equally friendly and abuse-free environment.

So by all means, let us celebrate what we have here. But let's keep our feet on the ground, shall we?

Without wanting to sound all Forrest Gump-ish, politeness costs nothing. Be that here, there or anywhere else, so you're bang on Tony. Even though your stamps are just a teensy bit odd!

Couldn't agree more about politeness. (Though it's a lesson learnt later in life. During 18 months as a tram conductor in my youth, I was regularly told I was the worst-tempered conductor in South Melbourne Depot.)

And if my stamps seem a bit odd, Jubilee, it's because you're not trying ...

Well, Jubilee, I suppose that - given its limitations - the George V 25 Rupee isn't so bad. But this charmer was issued during George V's reign, too:
