Shippensburg, PA Precancel L-Type?

Would someone be willing to confirm if these are all L-1 TS type precancels? Through process of elimination, I can't seem to match them up with the other precancel types known for this city, so I am assuming they may be the L-1 TS.

Yes, they are. Note that there are two variants of this type, one with much of the space removed between the two lines of text.



It's interesting to look through the old Hoover catalogue (1937, in my case) and see how little precancels are worth now compared to "back in the day". The current listing for type L-1 is 20 cents. Back in 1937, the cheapest of the L-1s had a catalogue value of 30 cents (your issues ranged from 32 to 35 cents). Not very good for the investors!

Thanks. Glad to have that sample listing of the two varieties of the L-1 TS types.

Interesting info. as to the valuations. However, as a practical matter, even if the values increased 10x it still wouldn't make for anything valuable enough to consider a rarity.

I just find it interesting to explore all of these precancel types, towns (and even dates, when used) because they are so varied.
