Larry was a member of our stamp club that passed away far too young..he was just a working family guy with very limited means for stamps..but his presentations on hand drawn pages was fantastic..Larrys take was.."i dont care whats on the back of the stamp" its not everyones cup of tea..to each his own..Larry collected for his own enjoyment..Rest in Peace ! |

Quote: I would try a "sponge box" or "humidity box" first. As stated above, such a box, called a "STAMPLIFT" was tried, but as expected didn't work, because gum from the backs of the stamps transferred to the face of the stamps, leaving a gooey mess. That's why they were soaked. |

Modern
They look great in the album, I am another that is not too picky about what I can not see on the back of a stamp once it is mounted. These look great |

There is a way I have found to get the stamps to release from each other. Put a Wet rag in the microwave with the stamps in question cover with anything glass that is about 5 inches tall. Run microwave until a lot of steam is present let sit for 30 seconds in steam bath. do not put the wet rag on the stamps put it as far away inside the dome. After this place stamps in freezer on a plate you put in there over night. leave for a while then come back to them and they will start to pop off one or two at a time just keep repeating until all are done. and walla. And sometimes just overnight in freezer works to. |

Interesting idea Stever! I'm going to have to file that away in some of the little brain space I have left! |

Stever, I heard of the freezer trick long before microwaves but it has seldom worked for me. That new-fangled microwave method is worth a try, though. Will have to remember it next time I'm stuck with stuck stamps. Thanks! |

I wonder if very, very, very low humidified heat applied constantly over a long period of time (weeks or months) would cause the stamps to release?
I didn't realize there was four pages of responses, so if this has been suggested please disregard. I was focused on the stamps and thinking about how the owner must feel... |
