Several recent posts have shown unusual covers, so I thought I'd share this one.

I have absolutely no idea why they would have used a Pennsylvania Flag Day cachet on the front of this cover with a US Frigate Constitution (Seattle, Wash.) postmark of June 14, 1933 ... but when you turn it over and see the reverse, the correct cachet appears along with a Seattle backstamp postmark without a stamp, also showing the June 14, 1933 date for Flag Day that year.

June 14 is Flag Day and they were probably making the reference to Betsey Ross in the cachet. What I didn't know was that Old Ironsides was still making trips in 1933.

Hi All

For those of you interested in more information about the USS Constitution, you might want to go to

http://www.compuchet.com/uss_constitution1.htm

There is a great deal of information here about this ship. I know the lady who collects the covers from this ship and she is still active in it and updates the site every now and then.

This is probably a better link to a website on the USS Constitution:

http://www.ussconstitutionmuseum.or...AQ_ports.htm

(The link provided previously gave me an error message that there is a advertiser known to distribute malware on that site and cautions against opening it.)

I believe what you are saying wt1, but when I entered the site, I did not get any such warning (?)

My anti-virus software still warns against opening, suggesting that an advertiser "healthcaremarketingguide.com" is known to distribute malware. (Rather be safe than sorry...)
