The Insider column (Les Winick) in the latest issue of Linn's Stamp News had this story. To celebrate their school's anniversary, a Japanese class of 6 year old students released balloons with letters attached fifteen years ago.

According to news reports, a fisherman found the still-legible letter, balloon and string attached to a flatfish he caught from a depth of 3000 feet. The fisherman found and contacted the girl, now a college student.

It sounds like one of the USPS's new premium delivery services!

Speaking of balloons, did they ever find that Priest,
who was trying to raise money for his parish, by flying a balloon ?

I remember reading about it about a month or so ago, and if
I recall, he was from South America

He was tied to hundreds of helium-filled balloons, was experienced and prepared. Still, they only found the balloons as far as I can find, so I hate to say it, but he didn't make it to heaven that way, though he probably did, otherwise.

With all those balloons, it was more like that movie "Napoleon" with the puppy sailing out over Sydney in a picnic basket tied to party balloons. The puppy fared much better, though, had quite an adventure and made it back home.

DNA tests have confirmed that the body found off the coast of Brazil is that of the party ballooning priest of a couple of months ago.

Well, you have to admit he went out in style! It's better than going out from the flu after living in a "retirement village" wearing Depends for ten years.
