I posted a pic the other day. Russ mentioned having it plated to ID the stamp. I was looking at slingshotvenus' website. It didn't match existing plated stamps he had. It could be die wear or just that one hasn't been through his facility. Does anyone know him or others to have the 1c plated? His price of $10.00 plus shipping seems more than reasonable. Who do you use?

That site is operated by Richard Doporto who is one of the top experts on the 1851 1 cent issue.

valley.. Use Richard Deporto.. he is the best there is.
There was a topic awhile back where a member here sold me a 22 that turned out to be a 20, I had it plated by Dick. It also proved that there was an error in the Neinkein book. They now use that image as the correct image for the particular position. It has also been returned to it's first owner.

Sorry Daryl for butting in like this so please forgive me but it was the other way around the Scott 20 turned out to be a Scott 22 position 29R4,the comments say Neinkein plating diagram is wrong, plating confirmed by vertical strip 9-19 29R4 Siegel 994 lot 1107,PF cert confirms archive image incorrect,Richard also confirms that there is an undocumented "curl" in shoulder.
This is the image of the Scott 22

and I think this will be the one that they will use to replace the 29R4 in the archives have I got that right Daryl so I thank you for doing all the leg work and the credit is duly deserved.
Thanks mate
Best regards Harry

Harry,
You are right, I had the numbers backwards.
And yes they are now going to use your image of the stamp to replace the erroneous one.

Did you mount that in your album with a sleeve?

No Daryl It's going into a photo frame It'll look crash hot in there but if I were to mount it in the album it would be in a sleeve as hinges tend to tare.
