I don't pay too much attention to the older classics in my collection albeit a few. I have been chasing the 1900 - 1940 Commemoratives and Airmails so these kind of just sit there.

Questions I have are.

1. Is this a 70A Brown Lilac ?

And 2nd, anyone know which type this 10¢ Washington is ?

The second one looks like A27 Scott 68, check the top left 10. The cheaper Scott 68 is pretty solid background and the Scott 62B should show more horizontal lines and is dark green as opposed to 68 which is yellow green.

The first one is new for me, and you are checking color, so I have to leave town. Sorry but Russ or Otto, or Stampvirgin will probably jump in and help.

The 10 cent is a Type V Scott 35. You can tell by the fact that the lower ornament pearls are gone. The 24 cent looks brown lilac to me I agree 70a.

Thanks JH, but the bottom one is not a 68 / A27 design as that one has the numeral "10" in the upper corners. My guess would be either a 14 or 15 ?

Stallzer,

The following website is an excellent resource for helping determine color types. For colorblind guys like me, it's a lifesaver.

The following link is to the color types of Scott 70. Enjoy!
