Has anyone ever seen a duplex cancel with a number as high as "97" on it? I found it among some covers and thought it to be a bit interesting, especially dating back as far as 1929:

I thought the number typically related to the clerk or desk which processed the item, but never have I seen a number that high. Is it unusual?

That does seem unusually high from a place like Louisville. I have seen a couple of 90's from Chicago.

My collection starts at 0
and goes to 24, never seen one as high as that.
Seen "Oahu" instead of numeral.

We had a plebiscite, and all voted your image
be transferred to my virtual collection.

Bonus points to Rod for using the word plebiscite in a sentence.
