Hey guys I have a chance to buy this stamp. I have not seen it yet live. I know it is off center. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

Is this an early "April Fools" joke?

If you're serious, you should be VERY careful -- this is a Scott 294a. The catalog value is well-over $10,000.

Indeed. Very rare. I would not purchase without a certificate of expertization/authenticity (and a rich dad).

I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole unless it is accompanied by a Certificate from a reputable source.

OK it is graded. PFC Fine. $7,500 is what he is starting at. What do you think?

Mounted or unmounted ? If it is unmounted I'd say that would be a fair price for Fine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Fine the lowest grade for an unused Stamp ? The going market rate for most items is around 30% of catalog, and Unmounted catalogs in Scott's specialized 2009 @ $22,500.00. If it was extra fine, that would demand a higher premium. Also I'd read the certificate very closely to ensure it is the same piece and also that it is in the same state as when it was certified.

The 2011 Scott valuation for an unused/OG 294a in Fine condition is $8,000 (VG is $6,500 and FVF is $10,500). That puts his starting price at about 94% of CV.

The last 3 mint singles (all DG) sold by Siegel in 2010 went for $4250, $3750 and $4000. Centering on all 3 were better than the one shown here.
