Not sure what he wants for the lot , he will sell off individuals or areas . I have a feeling though he may be on the much better off side of the coin so I don't think he's overly interested in a $20-$50 offer on 1-2 stamps. Think he is more looking at the high end stuff as pieceing it out if the right offers were to come along.
If I get the chance to go there tommorow I will dig some more. If anyone wants me to inquire about anything just let me know.

Nice, Nice, Nice. But I'd not ever borrow to buy ...if money were absolutely no object. it's another story.... but, also, in which case I'd not be borrowing in the first place. :)

In this case you are not buying on ebay or else. You have to obtain maximum infos you can get and don't be shy. Most of us are in face with such a collection would be. With the seller you have to show you stand on solid ground. In the buying process take your time. In the end you may be a lucky men. Daniel

No way I'm gonna be the lucky one- I could see a $5000 investment in a guarantee easy flip and a few really nice keepers but this is far out of my league expertise as well as finacial. The pics are not all that he has by a long shot so in reality I told him call sothebys or Christies and they will fly in an expert. Like most noted by the pics the organization and display leaves alot to be desired and I think if presented properly it would make a huge difference.
I still want to go and have a coffee with the guy just to hear some history and maybe beg a bit. Maybe bring a wooden bowel and spoon and beg "can I have some more sir" And see if I get my oliver twist but kicked out.

I'm sure we will have the whole details when you are back. It makes a very popular thread. We are both from LaSalle. Where I live it use to be a city, now it's a urban district of Montreal. It's from Robert Cavelier de LaSalle the french explorer.

I'm probably not that adventurous to take a gamble on a collection. I tend to buy stuff that I can afford and know has good resale value.
