Hi,
I have an extensive collection of GB FDC's including many very rare items. I am about to sell them via Brian Reeve Auctions.
Does anyone have any experience - good or bad - of selling via this auction house? Any advice offered would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi m1234, I have never sold with Reeve but have been to an auction long ago which was busy and well attended. They have merged with Sajal and another company since then while still holing the name. Well established. If you look at one of their closed auctions you will see some prices realised and the type of material that was offered. Plenty of FDC's, but not much rare stuff. How rare are your covers? And have you considered other auction houses ? Can you post a scan of some covers? Oh yes, to our fine house, though not an auction kind, though still very moorish Stick around and have fun. Where are you in the UK? Londonbus1.....transplanted Brit |

I don't collect covers in general and not old GB. But they are very good lookers you have.
I especially like the first day usage of the Dues. Nice. |

m1234, welcome to SCF. You have some very nice covers indeed. I have some covers but nothing as old as yours. As Londonbus1, suggests check past auctions and determine if the results are to your liking. Good luck selling your covers. |

Having taken a closer look at the Dues cover, the suspicious in me is coming out. I wonder if W.Matthews was a collector, and posted this to himself ? Mmmm. He [or she] had a late breaky, realised the last post was almost upon him [or her] and just got there in time. There was only a 50% fine [˝p] so not much damage done. Yeh, that must be it Today, the fine is 300%, so no chance of such dastardly actions. Londonbus1 |

you're going to find some people here interersted in your covers, if you have a price in mind that you think you want for the covers. I certainly would be interested to know what you think you might want for some of them, and yes as londonbus1 mentioned, so will I WELCOME. - jeff |

thought I might just share this one with you before I send to auction. As you can see from the handstamps it was posted May 8th and arrived May 10th. |

Did you check the Reeve lists? And what about other auction houses I asked earlier ? |

Jubilee, will this one do? It almost makes me cry to think I'm getting rid of them. And Londonbus, yes I've looked at the BR website and I can't see much viable alternative. At least when I contacted BR he was interested. Many of the other auction houses have shown no interest in selling for me at all. |

How strange that no one else is interested in such covers. So good luck with BR. Why are you selling ? No interest in keeping it going ? Not a collector ? The KGV cover is interesting [for me] because of the Exhibition connection. But do I see an error cancel on this one ? There is no time noted between the 'Halls S.W' and the date. Yet it looks like an Official Show cancel. Off to check. Londonbus1 |

It was my father who was the collector really. I have an interest but not the passion he had. I've had them stacked away for 20 years and rarely looked at since he died and they'd be better in the hands of people who will truly appreciate them. |
