Hi to all

These two stamps have the same postage and design yet one looks like it is missing a colour overlay. Or did China print two versions of the same stamp. As you can see the value in one stamp is completely filled in with red and the other is only red outline.
Any information greatly appreciated.
Regards

Horamakhet

There were actually 3 different unoverprinted issues of the construction projects set.

It looks like you have the stamps from the 2nd (left) and 3rd (right) issues. From the Scott catalog, I have listed all three stamps for you:

#1913(31Oct1974) -- brown and yellow
#2012(1976) -- carmine and multicolored <== your stamp on left
#2071(1977) -- same except denomination outlined <== your stamp on right

Thanks for that khj

much appreciated. I bought an old stock book in a thrift shop and it had hundreds of world stamps and dozens of Chinese stamps. From the book, it looks like it has been accumulated over several generations as there are some 19th century stamps as well as early 20th century stamps, and a lot of communist block countries from the 40s to 60s

Horamakhet.

You are welcome! Enjoy your acquisition!

Sorry, I do not have an SG worldwide catalog. If you are using an SG catalog, hopefully the issue date/year that I wrote will help you find it in the SG catalog.

I was actually visiting Taiwan in 1977 and remember seeing some of the 3rd issue construction projects stamps that had already been released that year at the post office. I ended up entering a new issue subscription with the post office so I could get the rest of the set sent to me in the US.

Thanks for bringing back some memories!
