This is the "G" grill which measures 9.5mm X 9.5mm with 12 X 11-11.5 points. This is the only grill used on the 1869 issue.

Where do you see this grill... I don'see it. You see it on back?

I will never be able to see grill and WM on US stamps. It's incredible. :)

Perhaps you can see the grill better on this copy of your stamp in greyscale -- it is the checkerboard pattern that begins below the hinge, is about as wide as the hinge, and continues down to about the botom one-fourth of the stamp.

I can understand your difficulty in seeing the grill on your stamp because it is not well defined. There are several web sites you could go to in order to see well defined grills. May I suggest ebay. The reason being that you will be able to see stamps with grills varying from nearly undetectable to very well defined. Once on the US stamps page click on 19th Century (Unused or used) and when those are shown enter the word "grill" in the search window.

Using a RGB decompose to improve the contrast helps to isolate the grill.

I tought it was another grill type. It is a very secret mark and not easy to see on mine :)
