There is also the possibility of a find in any assortment. 'A Find' being whatever excites you or pleases you, not necessarily of high monetary value, although that does sometimes add to the excitement of searching through the lot.
Mostly I enjoy looking at stuff and seeing what I haven't seen before (learning) and seeing stuff I have seen before but never noticed (learning) or seeing stuff I thought was ordinary in a new light and appreciation (learning). It's all good.
It's when you get into the return on investment ideas and thinking that the appreciation of aspects of stuff gets lost in the shuffle, and I think, possibly the best chance or opportunity to learn and get value out of something is missed.
I'd recommend sticking with what you like to collect, for now. Thirty-five shoeboxes take up no small amount of room. If there is anyone else who would be in a position to comment on your purchase (and by that, I mean anyone in your household), then the obviousness of an acquisition of that size would carry weight (to say nothing of the sheer storage implications).
My 2d. You probably can't go wrong, either way.
