Well I finally did it. I got my first album. It's the H.E. Harris Patriot Album. Nothing fancy, so I think I am gonna just put my used stamps in it and use it as a learning tool for when I get better albums for my better stamps. I just don't like the fact that it doesn't have the Scott numbers in it just b&w pic's, but like I said it's a good learning tool.
Cimarron - There was a guy in a stamp club I used to belong to that had probably $20 - $25 thousand dollars of Mint US stamps in an album much like the one you bought. It can last forever if you want it to.
I can understand how the lack of numbers can be frustrating, though. The pages I recently printed out for my Central American collection doesnt have them either.
You can thank Scott, for that, they have a copyright on their catalogue numbers, and the only one who is exempt from using their numbers is The U.S.P.S., who has a copyright on their stamps.
It's only relatively recently that Scott started using catalog numbers in their albums. Their Grand Award Albums from the 1960s and '70s were probably the first. The Internationals I have don't start using them until Part VIII which was published in 1973.
