Should I attempt ro remove used stamps from an envelope? Is there a good way to do this and not damage the stamp?

Please note - Before soaking stamps off of an envelope, please be aware that the stamps can often be more valuable and apreciable while they are still on the envelope. If you have a question about that, I would suggest posting a scan of the type of material you plan to soak, and we can advise you.

What smauggie said. A stamp can be extremely common when soaked, but on envelope a whole lot of things can add to its value. Besides, once you have soaked it off, you cant put it back on the envelope, whereas there is no problem in waiting a bit with the soaking.

That is unfortunate, though if postmarks are still intact the stamps on paper may still be worth more than when they are off.
