triggersmob, I have considered starting a penny collection. My dad use to have a small coin collection. I think I will ask him if I can add to it for my son. |

Stamperdude... When you get the cover, just under the portrait of Lincoln, you will see inscribed, signed New Years Day 1863 |

I had looked at it squinting and was going to copy the image and then enlarge it. But I figured I can wait a few days to look over the actual cover in greater detail. |

oldtriguy, That is a nicely centered stamp. Abe's hair looks a little tousled, he must have just woken up. I don't think I've ever seen that stamp before. Thanks for sharing. |

Peg, I attending the unveiling ceremony we had in October and will be attending the FDOI ceremony here in Springfield IL. I have been designing cachets for my brick and mortar club, a fellow club member, and myself. Plus I've been getting my Springpatch local post up and running and plan on unveiling it on the 9th- the cancel and stamp will have a Lincoln theme. I am neck deep in projects right now. Oh, I also like the new stamps being released. I will be posting my new additions to my collection soon. |

stamperdude you are dedicated to your hobby!! That sounds like a lot of work. I can't wait to see the results...It is just so appropriate for these stamps to be issued in this year in that place. I refrain from offending anyone politically but one has to admit there is quite a bit of history in the making in this 2009 |

I know what you are referring to. Illinois has not had good press lately regarding some of our politicians. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get into the opening ceremony the 9th if President Obama accepted the invite. He will be here on the 12th though for our annual Lincoln Luncheon. Lincoln Ne was trying to get the FDOI opening ceremony rights, but fortunately for me they did not. They are having a FDOS event with a pictorial postmark, and cover which I will get. |

Actually, I wasn't thinking of the Governor when I made that statement...I was thinking more of the link between Linclin and Obama. YOur Governor problems are nothing special...Ours committed the crime he fought wit the selfrighteousness of Archangel Michael...I am from NY you might have heard about Spitzer... And should we be inquiring why you thought the secret service would not allow you to get into the opening ceremony if the President attended...Is there somethin we ought to be made aware of ;) LOL |

Spitzer must have more money than brains he bought an old farm about 8 miles from me for around 4 million..the other city slickers could have gotten a similar one for about 400,000..i guess everything is relative !! |
