"Thank you for your contribution!"

It took 0.12 seconds to lick this stamp.

This may be about the only place in the U.S. where you can still lick a stamp!

That is so true! I wish they would go back to the "old way"--it made it easier for me to remove those stamps instead of dealing with the new adhesive. The old way had to be cheaper--don't ya think?

Actually, Gussy, the current way is less expensive - supposedly that's why the USPS decided to make the change. The paper required to print moisture activated stamps costs a fair bit more because it has an extra layer in it - it's the layer that allows the stamp to separate from the gum when soaked.

The self adhesive paper with a water soluble layer is slightly more expensive than self adhesive paper without a water soluble layer. That is the reason given by the USPS for not using self adhesive paper with a water soluble layer.

I would think that traditional plain paper stamps with traditional water-soluble gum on the back would be much less expensive than any kind of self adhesive paper. It is unclear to me why we ever needed self-stick stamps.

Also it is hard to find good envelopes with old fashioned water-activated gum anymore.
After you seal the new envelopes you can still easily open and close them.
So I have to put a piece of tape on the back to keep them shut.

Tom, I think we're going to have to appoint a staff psychologist to handle PhilB's eccentric tendencies!

I prefer lick and stick stamps, the self adhesive ones, just don't seem to soak off nicely.

I think we should boycot the USPS until they go back to the good ol' lick an stick type of stamps. I am now afraid to try and saok any of the modern stamps after seeing how Frankie fell apart after being soaked. If any can find an easy way to soak these new stamps that's not flammable please let me know.
