All I did was offer more information to some one in another forum requesting some 1990's Balkan war over motorcycle stamp prints. He was only asking for 2 when I had 4 in my collection, so I just let him know their were more.... anyway it turns out he wants my 4 stamps and he collects early American Motorcycle items also. And I happen to have a small collection of 1902 to 1925 US covers, some with letters, from or two early American motorcycle companies.
He wants about 17 covers and I have no idea how to value them other than the "what they mean to me" value. Which is higher then I would want to say to him!
I am just thinking out loud here really.... advice??
I think that when you have to think hard about a sale then don't sell. Or should I just say a high figure that I WOULD sell at and see where it goes? I could always use the money for other items...
If you have to think that hard, then you don't really want to sell. If they mean more to you in dollars than he would want to pay, he doesn't want them as bad as you do. The only time to work this hard in setting a price is when you NEED to sell. You need the money, the space, the freedom. Otherwise, if the item is not eating anything, and you like it that much, you'll regret selling.
