Dad kept his 'good' US stamps in his several binders he bought from Mystic. The Mystic pages are okay, they have fewer stamps on one page, and have historical notes/commentary. Now I have a nice Harris binder (US only). It is all US stamps in one binder, as opposed to many. Harris puts enough stamps on one page to equal 2,3, or even 4 at times, stamps on one page of the Mystic books. This one Harris binder will empty out at least 3 of the Mystics.
So, the pros of going Harris: Fewer binders. If weather approaches (hurricanes), fewer binders are easier to evacuate. I live on water, and could be called to evacuate.
Simplicity. I like. Harris binder is more tech saavy than the history heavy Mystics.
Less space. Falls back to simplicity I guess.
Cons: Heavily labor intensive moving all those stamps.
Chance of damage moving already mounted (showgard) stamps.
Not what Dad used. (Sentimental value to the Mystics)
Harris doesn't have quite the oramentation or historic trivia as Mystic.
Okay, what do you think?

Ratio411, if Dad had a dozen binders and you were able to re-house them in óne, I'd do the transfer. If your talking about five or less it doesn't seem worth the effort. (imo)
P.S. Assuming binders are not 'long term detrimental' for the stamps. |

As far as less stamps on a page, that is so the STAMPS stand out. More stamps per page takes away from the individual stamps. They pop out at you rather than blend in with the others. Even when I do my MNH stock books I keep the stamp count way down on each page. The only time I use high counts on a page is when I am storing stamps to be dealt with another day. I am also a big fan of the Mystic pages (not the binders). |

I'd have to say keep what Dad gave you. It's not only a collection but also a family heirloom that could *possibly* be handed down through generations. |

I am at the point where I need to move my US stamps from one album to another, not looking forward to it, but my old album is in poor condition and falling apart. |

I would leave it in the Mystic album. The historical content in the Mystic album seems cool and would be fun to read while you look at your stamps. |

The Harris 2 post binders and pages have a life span of ... however long it would take you to transfer stamps to that album. While I can't speak to the quality of the Mystic albums, I'd advise against using Harris for anything. Ever. |

I use Mystic albums but I have found some really excellent 3 ring binders at my office supply store that I am switching over to for my Mystic pages - I put my Mystic pages in plastic sleeves and although it adds bulk and weight you don't get any tear outs on the pages and it protects the stamps. I also have found the extra room on the pages allows me to put another variety of the same stamp on the page. |

I found some cool 2 ring binders here (european style). So, after I printed out the free amos worldwide cat (about 700 pages) I decided to go with those. I prefer to put more money into my collection than an album. Maybe later as I get older and have less parental/financial responsibilites I can afford to buy expensive albums. |

I have decided to keep the Mystics.
Scouter: I do the same thing with the page protectors once my page is completed with mint stamps. |
