Not sure if this is under the right subject heading, but here goes.
I've got this fragment with a USSC#809 which has a USS or SSU perfin. Two S's, stacked vertically inside a large U.
Any idea who or what the organization might be?

warrehouse, I just have a torn corner of the envelope.




And I'll to be honest with you, the stamp was torn and curled back along the bottom. I very carefully gluesticked it down for presentation. I was inches from throwing it out when I noticed the perfins

That's for the United States Steel Corporation, New York, NY - perfin pattern U91.5, rarity factor E, in use from 1917-1952.

Rarity factor E = not very rare. Only rarity factor F is more common. Rarity factor A is the rarest. The catalogue for US perfins doesn't contain prices, only these rarity factors. Note that the catalogue for perfinned US precancels does have prices, however.
