Hi to all

Although a bit dirty I can assure all that the stamp on the right is not skinned. I have examined it with UV light, a 10x lens and under a gemmological microscope 10x x 3
Has any-one else seen this variety?
Regards
Horamakhet

Horamkhet, I just checked 8 of my Koala stamps and they don't look like the stamp on the right.

Love that stamp. A couple of years ago, my youngest daughter was doing a project on Australia for school, so I put that stamp (an enlarged version of it of course) on a t-shirt for her. She still wears it, though it's getting a little tight.

All I can tell you is that it's not a plate variety. Something that big would certainly be recorded if it was recurring. So it seems to be some sort of one off freak. Appears to have occurred prior to the cancellation, so nothing to do with the use or soaking process. But it's too early in the morning for my brain to function, and it's not coming up with any ideas.

The void area 'may have' happened when stamp was removed from sheet. I've have similar voids next to perfs, under the cancellation, on Aust' KGV 1d greens.

Horamkhet, imo this eg may have had a defect in the paper that allowed some left perfs and design to come away when separated from sheet.
I've only seen 3 other voids on stamps under the cancellation.

hi finches

I shall do some more investigation.

I have lots of them, so I will check if I can find any others.
This one though does not have any missing perferations.
As Alice would say it gets curiouser and curiouser
Regards

I share the same experience with finches,
I have always wondered how that occurred,
it certainly isn't rare, one often comes across them.
