1902 1c Franklin Did They Do A Rotary????

Because I thought they only did flat plate printing but I found this on ebay, and I think the owner is confused or having a laugh, but I thought I had better check with everyone on here in case there was a experimental one that is not listed, before I burst the bubble he is living in, so he can save some money with the ebay listing fees

Never heard of any such thing.

Scott Catalog suggests that Rotary Press printing was not implemented until 1915 (well after this issue of 1903).

Besides, price is insane. Condition is terrible. Pictures are blurred (perhaps intentionally). No description detail is provided. Even if it were an experimental stamp or some other such thing, no one would even consider it unless it were expertized.

All good reasons why you should move on to something else.

The first rotary press issues were coil format. Scott 453 was issued July 3, 1914. The first Stickney rotary press was not completed until late 1913 and technical problems were not resolved until late spring of 1914. Rotary press sheet stamps were not issued until 1920. The stamp shown is Scott 300. In good used condition it would be worth about 2 cents.

This guy sells books, plates, etc. -- stamps aren't his strong suit ("had to peel it from an old post card").

I think he believes he has the 1908 1c perf 12 horizontal coil stamp, based on his $125,000 live auction result assertion.

There is some truth, however, to what he claims -- the 1c SERIES 1902 green rotary press IS a difficult stamp to find well-centered because it doesn't exist!

I didn't want to be cruel but I did have a good laugh when I saw it, I thought the first rotary was the later washingtons but wondered if I could be a experimental stamp because this was the series with the first coil stamps but even if it was 65k for a stamp that looked like it had been used to clean dishes!!

I did wonder if it was a money laundering thing or something like that as there are a lot of run of the mill normal stamp coming on with silly price tags and they are always with new users and most of the scams on ebay are with new users accounts but here are a couple more.

Amazing. One has to wonder if sellers like those are just hoping to find an idiot with money to burn (the scammers) or if they really believe that what they have is valuable (the uninformed).

Don't kid yourself for a moment. This clown seller pastpurpose is intentionally trying to defraud someone of their Money. People like this should be NARU'd permanently and furthermore please use the seller's name in your post when posting outrageous items like this. The more people that use the sellers name will cause Google to point people to this thread and perhaps someone can be spared and keep their Money where it belongs, not with this clown.

Looks like he built the free shipping into the price.

Probably more outrageous than the free shipping is the "economy" shipping on the 65,000 dollar offering.

The 1902 Franklin listing has been removed. I felt compelled to report it to ebay and to contact the seller, to which he replied that "It was an honest mistake" .......yea....right...

WOW! Five (5) stamps are included and you need to be a millionaire to afford it ... and no returns!

What's sad about these listings is that there are some that are not so blown out of proportion but where they get uninformed people to pay outrageous sums for stamps worth only a pittance. The old adage "Knowledge is Power" is at work here, and at least SCF helps out with that.

Personally, I've not listed stamps on ebay, but if I were the ebay bosses, I think I'd start imposing a mandatory fee on listings about six figures (whether there's a sale or not) and then you'd see some of these outrageous listings go away in a hurry.
