We were in town around dinner time so we decided to eat out....our choice was the Texas Roadhouse...our server was a cheerful attractive girl and I noticed her name tag read Nyasa..after a couple of visits to our table I asked her if she knew where her name came from? She did indeed..she informed me that the name is now Malawi..her father was originaly from Africa and her mother from Barbados...we had an interesting conversation and I told her the only reason I knew Nyasa was that I was a stamp collector...its always interesting to talk to people from other places !!
I'd never really looked at these before -- they're GREAT. Thanks Phil for raising the topic and Bayern for the great website.
Giraffes, Zebras, Ships -- and all in those great classic-era vignettes. Also, I'm not sure how current the website information, but the catalog values seem very reasonable.
I have a suspicion that despite catalog value, these might be difficult to find. Am I wrong?
Kirk, they were quite the rage for a young collector back in the early 50's..why would I look at the green and purple stamps the U.S. was putting out when the multi colored French and Portugese colony stamps were so available ?
