Hi to all

This is the earliest Fiji stamp I have found in the collection.
It is a King George of Fiji overprinted VR for Victoria. It appears to be unused and is lightly hinged on the reverse

The underlying initials are CR. The king's name was Cakobau.
Perhaps you were getting him confused with King George of Tonga.

According to Gibbons, this and the other VR overprints in the set, are something of an oddity. They were printed onto paper previously lithographed with the VR. This is the only case I can think of where the stamp was printed over the overprint, so to speak - where the stamp becomes the 'overprint'.

These stamps come on either wove or laid paper: £55-£70 for the wove paper, and £55 for the laid. A nice find. Can you straighten out that perf at the top?

Take that previous posters advice, wet the perf first with a cotton bud, to save the perf breaking off.
