As long as Ryan is online with his trusty catalog, maybe he can help identify these (otherwise unidentified) perfins?

All but the last stamp are from the Presidential Series. The last stamp is a Boston precancel from the Washington/Franklin series. I suspect the encircle "B"may be City of Boston (?), the "BEC" Boston Edison Company and the "BMCO.", Boston and Maine Railroad, but that's only a guess on my part.

Edit: Found out "BMCO." is not Boston and Maine RR, so that one's still a mystery to me.

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here are a couple of more seemingly unreadable perfins:

All are Jamaica, NY precancels from the 1922-26 regular series or the 1932 Presidential series stamps. While not exactly the same, these perfins do look similar.

Any ID information would be helpful.

Thanks.

Here's the info from the two catalogues (perfin catalogue and perfinned precancel catalogue).

ASS - A. Schrader's Son Incorporated, Brooklyn, NY - perfin pattern A263, rarity factor E (most common)

O(B) - Ohio Brass Company, Mansfield, OH - perfin pattern O1, rarity factor E

BEC - Boston Edison Company, Boston, MA - perfin pattern B93, rarity factor E

BE/UC - Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Bureau of Employment & Unemployment Compensation, Harrisburg, PA - perfin pattern B101, rarity factor E

BM/C on a Boston, MA precancel - Boston Music Company - perfin pattern B161, $.25

[NEMO] on a Jamaica, NY precancel - Nemo Hygenic Institute - perfin pattern N70, $.15 - note in catalogue says "Usually poorly punched"

Wow! What great information. Thanks so much.

I never thought I would ever ID those Jamaica, NY precancels, as I couldn't make out any of the letters for certain.

While value may be minimal, most of the precancels were from easily identified sources, except that I was quite curious about the Jamaica, NY precancels as the "Nemo Hygienic Institute" sounded like a rather odd sort of name. I tried to look it up on the internet with limited success, until I came across this newspaper ad from the John G. Myers Co. (Dept. Store?) in Albany, NY dated 1927 ... who would have ever thought that the "Nemo Hygienic Institute" related to Foundation Garments (more specifically, "To appear uncorseted while being well corseted!")

Just goes to show that stamps need not be valuable to find a interesting story behind them!
