Anyone looking at U.S. 65's may have seen this one on eBay-- I've been looking at it for a couple of months now, and made a best offer, and Michael Aldrich accepted it.

65 is known imperf, listed in Scott, but with a -- for the value. I'm really glad I have this one-- someday, since I want to start exhibiting locally, this one will definitely be shown. Thought I'd gloat a bit :)

Thanks for looking-- Ray

Ray,

If it doesn't already have a cert I would suggest getting one from Bill Weise. JMO.

Hi Art-- I may do that, but it did come from Michael Aldrich-- at least when it comes to Private Die Proprietary stamps, I think he is probably the authority, so I'm not worried about the source.

What I'd really like to know is how rare is a imperf #65, and what the value really would be at auction. I'm thinking I may have stole this one at $40. But if there is no demand, since it was there for at least a couple months I know of, it would be difficult to place a value.

Pretty neat variety, though.

And-- have you been following my thread over at VSC on the 10A/11A I posted last night? Might just have landed a decent one.

Thanks, Ray

Ray,

I can't give any opinion on your imperf. Not to bust a bubble but have you considered that it might be an upper right corner copy with a wide vertical margin? I would feel better if it had part of the stamp below as well. I bought a lot of stamps from Michael Aldrich and have never had a problem, still a cert would be my choice.

I have been following you on VSC and it looks like you got a 10. If Winston Sinclair says its a 10a, its a 10a. Sometimes its real hard to tell if the scan image isn't the best and I think that's what worried Bill Weise. So, congratulations! I'm still looking and pretty much decided that I'm going to have to dig deeper into my pockets to get one that I like.

Ray!
Looking at your 65 imperforate, It is quite a find, while I do not know it there has ever been a postally used, you might wish to look at the 65Pc. Also I do agree with Art, sent it to Bill and have him take a look at it.

The stamp is in an envelope, going back to Michael Aldrich tomorrow. It is definitely a 65, with trimmed perfs on the right side.

GREAT CALL, ART.......Bill Weiss said the same thing on VSC.

I magnified it 60x, and you can see the perf holes on the right side. It was a heck of a jumbo!

Bummer-- Brookman in his 19th Century Books, states that "there are not an inconsiderable number of used singles in the marketplace", so I really thought I had one........

Thanks to all-- Ray
