P.S. He has never had a PC.

Hi finches,
LOL stands for Laugh Out Loud. So I guess any of the smiley faces that are laughing, could be the alternative for LOL. Though I can't HEAR the Smilies actually laughing OUT LOUD, ha ha!

I suppose it could also mean Lots of Luck.
You mention your "old mate" Is that a British term? Are you in England? If so, they have good beer there right?

I am in California.
Have a good one!
Sue

Sue Stamps, I'm in Australia and the term 'old mate' is used for a close male friend that is a good few years older and wiser.
P.S. I 'wouldn't like to mention' Australia's far Superior beer, served in Middies or Schooners, compared to our English friends 'pints'.

Another term used by Australians is 'Rat Bag', used to describe stupid actions by people especially young guys doing burnouts etc with there first car! (which we also did when young)

What does that mean when you say: from behind the iron curtain?

Sue, back in the early 70s when these were issued Hungary was part of the Soviet (Communist) block.
The iron curtain, as it was called, symbolized the physical and ideological divide between NATO and the Communist block.
Often in these countries style (art, fashion, design) lagged behind the west and looked dated. Although the suppression of artists actually created incredible individual creativity, it was hidden. State funded art was very conservative and dated looking, by our standards.
That's why, I think, the drawing here, though only 40 years old, look stylistically more like 60 years.
In my humble opinion. (that's me in my cool artsy shades)

Sue Stamps, Hello again and to answer your question about Pub Glass sizes in NSW, a Middy contains 285mls or 10 fl Oz's and the Schooner contains 425mls or 15 fl Oz's.

P.S. I haven't drank since my youth (when I consumed my fair share),I diverted the beer money into stamps/philatelic, 'maybe' a descendant will get a partial return in future?!.
