hi I bought this I little while ago because it intrigued me but I've hit a bit of a brick wall, I think its a proof but there are a few things that puzzles me, 1 why is it not cut properly which I would have thought it would have been if it was a proof? 2 why is it used if it was a proof? its on paper and its not ribbed, I'm still learning pre 1890 stamps although some I have nailed others I just don't have a scooby doo, and I just want some other peoples opinions on it!

Not sure if this issue was issued imperf or not? I'm positive someone more knowledgeable than me can help you. Looks like an OK example though. I doubt it's a proof because it's been postally used. J.M.O..

There isn't an Imperf in the book but my opinion is that that doesn't mean that there couldn't have been an error on a sheet or two. But I've looked everywhere and can't find any info. The stamp is in terrible condition it's almost in 2 pieces with a hinge holding it together but it annoys me not knowing

Hey
You might try the 162P, I do believe that the India paper and the card stock printings were imprif. That still does not explain the cancel?
